Courtney: Hello I’m Courtney Uncooked and this is my dear friend, Kyle Rising with Sensi Trails. And Kyle is back from California. I’m so excited to see him. I haven’t seen him in person in probably two years.
Kyle: Couple years yeah.
Courtney: But look at this guy, he’s so cute. He went out to Cali to make it big, and he just got signed and was about to go on tour and had all these huge things happening and then the situation happened and now Kyle is just chilling. And Kyle, just tell us, you know, how are you making it through this time? Do you have any tips or tricks for the rest of us?
Kyle: Well, yeah, since we can’t tour or anything right now, I’ve been using a lot of my time to learn studio production you know, kind of like the behind the scenes stuff…
Courtney: Okay.
Kyle: How to create music through recordings and things like that, and just kind of grasping the understanding.
Courtney: That’s awesome. That’s awesome.
Kyle: Thank you.
Courtney: And later at the end of the show, Kyle is actually going to play his number one, hit single, Just Living. It is an awesome song; it makes me so happy. So, make sure you want to stay tuned after the recipe to check out the song is going to be so good. His band’s name again is Sensi Trails and if you want a sweet shirt like mine, you can check them out at sensitrails.com. And I’ve had this shirt for years. I love it. I love it. Listen to his music, he’s on Pandora. Pandora, Spotify, iTunes.
Kyle: Yeah.
Courtney: Amazon. Sensi Trails, they’re everywhere and it’s just the happiest sweetest, funnest music ever. Things are going to go back to normal and when they do, you need your very own Sensi Trails mix to take on the road with you for that van life, you know? And so, I’m going to show you today how to make a great, fresh, raw vegan, delicious trail mix the right way. But I want you to know if you’re on the road, you don’t have access to a dehydrator and you can’t soak your nuts overnight and then drain them and dehydrate them and put salt on them and do all that stuff. You can go to the store and buy some raw nuts and mix them together. It’s going to be a hundred times better than going to fast food. Right?
Kyle: Absolutely.
Courtney: Right. So, yeah, I just created this for you and you know, you always want to rinse your nuts to get off the acidic enzyme inhibitors. And actually, they say that rinsing your nuts can turn nuts from being, I know people get a little red when I talk about soaking your nuts, I know this isn’t my first rodeo. It’s not even funny to me anymore, like, yeah. So yeah, so you always want to soak your nuts, Kyle overnight, if possible, if not possible, you know, that’s okay. And then drain them, strain them in whatever kind of strainer you have. And then we’re going to put them on our little dehydrator sheets here, and you want to make sure that your dehydrator sheet can breathe.
Kyle: Okay.
Courtney: And so, if you dehydrate any sort of a fruit, you’re going to want to flip the fruit when it’s halfway through this trail mix is so easy to make because it’s only four things in equal parts. So, it’s one part and one cup of nuts, one cup of seeds, one cup of mix-ins, which can be cacao nibs or coconut, and let’s see, and one cup of fruit. So, what you want to do is you just want to line your nuts up on the dehydrator tray, and then always put this one underneath…
Kyle: Okay.
Courtney: Because it’s going to catch any liquid that runs off. And these nuts are still moist so if you want salt on your nuts Kyle, at this point, you’re just going to pour on salt.
Kyle: Okay.
Courtney: And you know, dehydrate away, alright.
Kyle: Alright perfect.
Courtney: So, I’ve already dehydrated the nuts and the fruit for you. And so, almonds you want to dehydrate for 12 to 24 hours and the same with cashews. You want to dehydrate these for about 12 to 24 hours, some bananas, and we did these for eight hours, so again, at four hours, you want to flip those. And then I did kiwi for you, I’ve never dehydrated kiwi before, but man, it’s really good.
And kiwi, you’re going to do 12 hours, pumpkin seeds for about six hours, and then the pineapple, you’re going to hydrate for 16 hours. And I love my magic mill dehydrator with the see-through door, it’s great. And if you don’t have a dehydrator, you can pick one up at courtneyuncooked.com. So yeah, I’d love for you to check that out. All right, good job, Kyle. So, you’ve got…
Kyle: Thank you.
Courtney: Everything in the bowl here. And then we’re just going to mix this up.
Kyle: Look at that, wow. Smells amazing. Funnel it in.
Courtney: Alright, Kyle…
Kyle: See if I can do this.
Courtney: It’s all you. I’m so scared right now.
Kyle: Oh no, we’re good we’re good, we got this.
Courtney: I’m so scared. Okay. I’ll be your buffer.
Kyle: There we go.
Courtney: Oh, Sensi, Sensi Trails mix. Sensi, yes.
Kyle: Alright, there it is.
Courtney: Whoop. There it is. Oh, and you…
Kyle: Those nice colors.
Courtney: Know what else is good, Kyle too. Do you like coconut? I love…
Kyle: I love coconut…
Courtney: Okay.
Kyle: Yeah, let’s add some of that in there.
Courtney: Let’s put some coconut in there. And what about cacao nibs?
Kyle: Absolutely.
Courtney: Little bit of chocolate…
Kyle: Absolutely.
Courtney: Okay. So, put all this in there and we’ll just give it a shake. I’ll let you shake it. Shake it a baby now, shake it a baby, twist and shout, twist and shout. Good job Kyle. And just really topsy turvy it, yes, yes, yes.
Kyle: There it is.
Courtney: Alright, I’m going to let you try it. Here you go.
Kyle: Alright, here we go.
Courtney: Try to get like…
Kyle: Moment of truth.
Courtney: A little bit of everything.
Kyle: Wow. It’s actually really good.
Courtney: Really? This trail mix is just amazing. Oh, you’re feeling it too.
Kyle: Alright.
Courtney: Courtney, Courtney Uncooked. Making Sensi Trails mix with my boy, Kyle. You know, he moved to Cali so it’s been a while. His reggae band Sensi Trails is doing great and they love having raw food all over the place. They can easily take this trail mix on the road and it’ll give him strength when it’s time for the show. No, you don’t need a stove or an oven to cook, just a blender, dehydrator and some Courtney Uncooked. I say Courtney, Courtney Uncooked. Courtney, Courtney Uncooked. Ladies and gentlemen, Kyle Rising, with Sensi Trails, performing his number one, hit single, Just Living.
Kyle Singing:
I give thanks for this life that we’re living. Cause it could be gone in an instant. The Days go by with the blink of an eye. So, don’t take anything for granted. And I really want to know where we go when we die but I don’t want to keep asking. Cause I know the day will come around when I’m no longer alive but for now we just living
For now, we just living. Stay close to the ones you love, could be the last time that you see. Because tomorrow is not guaranteed but for right now, we’re just living. I give thanks for this life that we’re living. Cause it could be gone in an instant. Days go by with the blink of an eye.
So, don’t take anything for granted. And I really want to know where we go when we die but I don’t want to keep asking. Cause I know the day you’ll come around when I’m no longer alive but for now, we’re just living
For now, we just living, Oh, we’re taking it day by day don’t really know what I’m doing. No, But I know where I want to be so I’m a keep on pushing, pushing to the victory. Paying my dues and I’m learning my lessons. This life’s such a blessing.
