Courtney: Hi, I’m Courtney Uncooked here my dear friend, Rebecca Lawlor. And I just love Rebecca so much, she has such a special place in my heart because Rebecca is actually the one who helped me quit drinking. Four years ago, I had a very, very bad night and Rebecca was the first person I called and she said, it’s okay. You don’t have to drink anymore,  you can just stop right now. And I’m like, what? I don’t think that’s an option, Rebecca. She said, no, it is. I just quit drinking. You had quit drinking yourself…

Rebecca: I did yes.

Courtney: A few months earlier and you looked great and…

Rebecca: Remember we met in the parking lot we ran into each other.

Courtney: Yes, I saw you in the parking lot one day and you looked like a whole different person. And so I didn’t believe you because you and I used to party hard together on yachts and country clubs and restaurants and bars. And you know, now we party hard at the Green Cat.

Rebecca: That’s right. Right? Exactly. Make healthy smoothies.

Courtney: Yes, we do. Yeah. So you know, we just replaced one thing…

Rebecca: We did.

Courtney: You know, with a lot of negative consequences with…

Rebecca: Absolutely.

Courtney: Something with abundant limitless, positive consequences. So…

Rebecca: Absolutely. That’s right.

Courtney: I definitely could not have done it without you and I just love you so much.

Rebecca: I feel the same about you.

Courtney: Aww, thank you.

Rebecca: I love you so much.

Courtney: Thank you.

Rebecca: You’re amazing.

Courtney: Thank you.

Rebecca: Thanks for having me here today.

Courtney: Yes.

Rebecca: So exciting.

Courtney: Yes. And Rebecca does Christian movies.

Rebecca: I do.

Courtney: And really wholesome entertainment and you’ve made some great movies. They’re called?

Rebecca: I’ve done a series, a couple. 40 Nights, Chasing the Star and Christ Slayer. And that is all about Jesus and about his life. And then I do films that I love that I’m very passionate about different causes on the post traumatic stress syndrome and…

Courtney: And you have your foundation.

Rebecca: I do. I have a foundation that I started about 23 years ago for kids who are abused, which is amazing and we do a lot of good work across the country. And so, and one of our last films we just finished up is called Lost Heart. And it’s actually a little bit about alcoholism.

Courtney: Okay.

Rebecca: So coming full circle around…

Courtney: I am sure it’s going to be amazing.

Rebecca: Yeah, it is. We’re really excited. So…

Courtney: And so, in addition to making movies, Rebecca owns part of a distillery and somehow remains non-drinking and able to not drink. If I own a distillery, I would be swimming and bathing in alcohol and you abstain honey. How do you do that?

Rebecca: One day at a time. One day at a time

Courtney: There you go. One day at a time.

Rebecca: Yea, absolutely.

Courtney: Yes.

Rebecca: So, very blessed. We have a distillery here in Virginia Beach and I have a great partner. He’s amazing.

Courtney: And you’re making hand sanitizer now.

Rebecca: We are making hand sanitizer.

Courtney: The best hand sanitizer in town.

Rebecca: Yes, we are. We do. We have the best hand sanitizer so, and it is during COVID and it has been a blessing to be able to do something to help out during this time so…

Courtney: And I want to tell a secret about Rebecca and I hope she doesn’t get upset at me…

Rebecca: I don’t mind.

Courtney: But Rebecca used to own a hotel and homeless people all the time would say. I hope I don’t start crying. They would ask if they could stay there and Rebecca always said, yes. And I would say, Rebecca, you need to give them a time limit. You need to say yes for one week or yes, for two weeks or, you know, you have to, you know, they’re going to live there forever. And she’s like, no, I don’t, it’ll be fine, honey. It’ll all work itself out. And it always did. They would come, they would go, they would leave it clean and nice and they wouldn’t take advantage of you. And it was just beautiful… I mean, this woman would do anything for anybody. She… you’re a true philanthropist. And I just know, as your friend, from seeing things that, you know, you do a lot of public things, but your heart behind the scenes is just golden. So yes.

Rebecca: I love you.

Courtney: I know you’re the best.

Rebecca: You are the best. Thank you. Thank you for saying that.

Courtney: So anyway, we like to go to… I’m going to change the subject because I’m getting teary. So we like to go to the Green Cat.

Rebecca: We do.

Courtney: And we love this smoothie called the Traveling Yogi, my friend Victoria Raine.

Rebecca: Yeah.

Courtney: She sent me this smoothie recipe and I tried it and I said, oh my gosh, this is almost as good as The Traveling Yogi from the Green Cat. So I call this the traveling Nogi.

Rebecca: Oh yeah, I love the name. What a great name.

Courtney: And it’s almost as good.

Rebecca: Yes.

Courtney: So, if they’re closed because they close at six and it’s like eight o’clock, and you want a smoothie, which by the way is a good thing to do.

Rebecca: It is. Especially at night.

Courtney: If you have a sugar craving late at night, you want that ice cream.

Rebecca: Absolutely.

Courtney: Man, if you make this smoothie, it is going to check all the boxes of…

Rebecca: Satisfied.

Courtney: All the cravings. Totally satisfied.

Rebecca: Absolutely, absolutely. Right.

Courtney: So…

Rebecca: And there’ll be no guilt as well.

Courtney: Right.

Rebecca: So, yeah exactly.

Courtney: So we’re just going to get started.

Rebecca: So we’re excited. So we’re going to actually start with the almond milk.

Courtney: Yes okay.

Rebecca: And I think we’re going to do half the almond milk.

Courtney: Okay. We’re just going to do half in our trusty Vitamix.

Rebecca: Absolutely.

Courtney: Alright.

Rebecca: That looks awesome. And then we’re going to start with half of the bananas so grab one of those.

Courtney: Okay. Alright.

Rebecca: Perfect. And then we’re going to do the almond butter.

Courtney: Alright.

Rebecca: Add the almond butter.

Courtney: Okay. And so today we’re tripling the recipe, but normally it’s just two bananas.

Rebecca: Right.

Courtney: And a cup of almond milk. This is three cups of almond milk.

Rebecca: Three cups. Right.

Courtney: And so we’ve just tripled everything.

Rebecca: And that’s almond extract.

Courtney: Yes that is almond extract.

Rebecca: This is cacao. Yeah. And then we have some flax seeds.

Courtney: Yes. These are great.

Rebecca: So this is a good nighttime drink then.

Courtney: Yes, it’s very good. And this is totally a meal replacement. Rebecca?

Rebecca: Yes?

Courtney: Why did the banana go out with the prune?

Rebecca: I don’t know. Why?

Courtney: Because he couldn’t find a date.

Rebecca: Oh my Gosh. I should know that.

Courtney: Oh gosh. So you always want to start off on low.

Rebecca: Yes.

Courtney: Think I got it here. I’m just going to use my plunger and push the bananas down in.

Rebecca: Oh my gosh. That already looks great. Look at that.

Courtney: You have a Vitamix?

Rebecca: I love my Vitamix.

Courtney: Yeah?

Rebecca: Absolutely. One of the best.

Courtney: Alright, let’s see.

Rebecca: How’s that doing?

Courtney: I think it’s doing good.

Rebecca: We’ll add the other half of the almond milk.  And we got the bananas. We have the cinnamon here.

Courtney: Oh yeah. We’ll just go ahead and drop that in.

Rebecca: Okay, perfect. This is really easy to make.

Courtney: Yeah.

Rebecca: Especially with the Vitamix.

Courtney: So easy.

Rebecca: Yeah.

Courtney: Alright.

Rebecca: So if you have everything at home, you could have it made up in a few minutes.

Courtney: Oh yeah. Yeah.

Rebecca: And be ready to go. Perfect.

Courtney: So good.

Rebecca: Fantastic.

Courtney: And so we always like to drink our drinks when possible in wine glasses. I just think that everything tastes better in a wine glass. Don’t you Rebecca?

Rebecca: I think so as well. I agree 100% with you, sweetheart. There you go.

Courtney: Thank you. And when you eat bananas, you just get that natural sugar.

Rebecca: Absolutely.

Courtney: You’re not going to have that crash. And Rebecca speaking of bananas…

Rebecca: Yes?

Courtney: Why did the banana go to the doctor?

Rebecca: I don’t know. Why?

Courtney: Because he wasn’t peeling well.

Rebecca: Love that. Cheers. That is great. Oh my gosh, this is delicious.

Courtney: Almost as good as the Green Cat.

Rebecca: This is almost as good. I think you nailed it. I think you did.  Oh it’s wonderful, thank you.

Courtney: Yes, yes.
Courtney: Making a traveling nogi smoothie with Rebecca Lawlor. Drink one of these each day and you’re bound to get smaller. The chia and the flaxseeds have your omega 3’s. This thing is so delicious, it’s the bee’s knees. The cacao and the cinnamon really make it delish. After you drink this smoothie you’ll feel so accomplished. No, you don’t need a stove or an oven to cook. Just a blender, dehydrator, and Courtney Uncooked.
